AUDITS OF WATER AND SEWERAGE PERFORMANCE REPORTING
Central NSW Joint Organisation of Councils
Audits of the water and sewerage performance reporting of 11 Councils in the Central NSW JO were completed in 2020 and 2023. Two of these Councils were mandatory audits involving the larger Councils of Bathurst and Orange. The remaining 9 non-mandatory audits involved smaller Council and were undertaken in a supportive and interactive workshop environment, with a view to process improvement.

REGIONAL ASSET MANAGEMENT INITIATIVE
Lower Macquarie Water Utilities Alliance
Established in 2015, the AM Working Group was a knowledge sharing and peer networking group for asset management practitioners across western NSW. The working Group was an achievement in regional collaboration in asset management: thirteen Councils working together to share knowledge and resources, achieving tangible, demonstrable improvements in asset management practice. Mike and Jacqui have undertaken asset management maturity assessments for 13 Councils and have developed a regional improvement strategy for these Councils.
COBAR INTEGRATED WATER CYCLE MANAGMENT STRATEGY
cCobar Shire Council and Cobar Water Board
The IWCM is being prepared as an innovative, collaborative approach between consultants, Council, the Cobar Water Board and DCCEEW officers, to achieve realistic outcomes. Mike Brearley & Associates presented the following Paper to the 2024 NSW Water Management Conference: "Cobar's IWCM – An innovative change process to tackle failed infrastructure."
WATER SUPPLY AND SEWERAGE ASSET MANAGEMENT, FINANCIAL PLANNING AND GRANT APPLICATIONS
Gilgandra Shire Council
A 12 month program to develop asset management plans and associated financial strategies in working towards financial sustainability.
ASSET MANAGEMENT IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVE
Cootamundra Gundagai Shire Council
A 12 month program to combine asset datasets from two organisations, to build a robust corporate system, including workshops with staff and Councillors, followed by development and subsequent adoption of 5 new asset management plans covering all material asset classes.
